Terrain:
One thing I’ve learned in my endeavors of college soccer is good terrain is not promised. Fields are never going to be the same, nor perfect. It’s a good habit to experience different fields especially if you played a lot on turf fields like I did. This way you’re accustomed to the field and can adjust your gameplay accordingly.

Sunday Fun Day!
I like starting the week off with a bang, so some upper body it is. Top it off with some cardio and ball work and boom, you’re ready for the week!

The better you are with close quarter dribbling, the better off you’ll be in the attacking third. Once you’re able to dribble like a pro, it’ll be extremely hard for defenders to stop you, for their tackle will be just another cone for you to dribble around.

Soccer players can be strong too! Hear me out.
For as long as I’ve been playing. I’ve always been told I have a soccer player build (although I was 40lbs less). As soon as I put on a little bit of size, it’s like the whole world turned and now everyone says I look like a football player.
Soccer players NEED strength. The amount of power behind my kicks, throw ins and even just sprint speed have all climbed as I’ve put on healthy weight. Not to mention my dribbling speed and skill moves have slightly improved.
Now don’t get me wrong, you can definitely put weight on incorrectly. Diet is super important in doing this correctly. With the right diet and training, anything is possible.

The beauty of the sport is it can be enjoyed anywhere and anytime. It all depends on your mentality and what you want out of it. If you’re trying to simply increase your familiarity with the ball. The best thing you can do is keep it around you all the time.

The more I play, the more I find myself in a greater connection with my body. It’s almost like my mind to muscle connection is improving 👀.
If there’s anything I’ve learned from being in sports, it’s the more you put in, the more you get out.

Your surroundings define you:
I keep a soccer ball in my trunk at all times, and I have them all around my room. If you truly love something, you’ll incorporate it to your daily life.

Calculated trainings:
It’s important to make sure you’re getting game like reps at least once or twice a week. Doing personalized shooting, dribbling or juggling skills are great, but you can’t forget the big picture. Some games you only have a 1 or 2 chances to shoot, so it’s important to make the most out of them when you can.

Would you have me on your team? 👀😝
Although personal skill is so important in the game of soccer, the reality is the game is a team sport. You have to be willing to compromise with other players in order to be successful. Many teammates in the past have caused me trouble, but it’s vital to work out the differences so you can thrive together.

Back in my preseason college soccer days, we would wake up, train, eat, train, eat, train, sleep & repeat for weeks on end. After doing this for camp for 4 years, I almost became numb to the feeling of working out, and now it serves as my mediation. Whether it be a full on soccer game or just a gym session, the benefits to physical activity are endless.

No matter where find yourself. if you stay consistent with what you work for, your passion will turn from a dream to reality.
I found myself in a completely new area this weekend, but it didn’t stop me from doing what I love.

Casual Friday futsal!
I love breaking the futsal ball out after the gym, it’s such a playful way to mess around dribbling. It’s great for practicing footwork and is fantastic for close quarters.

Crushed a heavy leg day and got some juggling in afterwards to loosen the legs up. Doing this is such a great habit after a workout, because the hard part isn’t playing when you’re fresh, but when you’re exhausted.

Consistency is the key to growth, even if you can’t do specifically what you want. Pushing your body through a quick workout, is way better than succumbing to muscle atrophy by not doing anything. Stay consistent!

Nothing like a sweaty sauna session after cardio. The benefits are endless and the feeling afterwards is priceless. I highly recommend a cardio and abs day topped off with a sauna or steam room for restarting your week. Now i can hit the pitch and feel light as a feather 🪶.

Leg day topped off with some abs and cardio is always a good match. This session is a great workout the day before a game, and here’s why:
• I’ll be light on my toes for when I get to the pitch.
• My core will be prepared for any shifts in direction.
• My leg strength will not need a warmup, as I already have my leg strength activated, just some agility and mobility exercises is all that’s required.
Train smarter not harder 😎

The beauty of stretching is it can be done anywhere and at anytime. Especially for your lower body, the benefits to even a quick stretch are endless.
Whether it be to improve your daily activities or physical performance, it’s an important function that everyone needs to be doing. Try to accustom it to fit your daily schedule, it can’t hurt 😘.

Diversification:
Switch it up! After a long time of keeping the same routine, your body becomes accustomed to what you put it through.
Arnold Schwarzenegger said it best, you must shock the muscle to get it to grow. Doing the same thing over and over can only get you so far. Introduce new workouts and tests for yourself, and your body will have no choice but to adapt and grow!

Took time away from the field to get some steps in to break away from the normal mundane routine. Took a detour up in the sky momentarily and it was epic. This made me realize the importance of switching up ways of fitting in physical activity in fun new ways.

Abs:
Abs can be done absolutely anywhere and at anytime if you know what to look for. It takes 21 days to completely build a habit. Be consistent and you’ll adapt, I promise. I would do this hold for 5-10 minutes and that’s it, don’t be afraid to shake it up with other variations though. Having a strong core is vital for soccer, so don’t forget to skip it!

Post workout stretch:
How you handle yourself after a workout can arguably be more important than the workout itself. It’s vital that you stretch and properly nourish yourself after an intense training, otherwise you’ll be extremely sore and tired.
After my morning collegiate trainings, some kids would go back to their dorms and sleep. Others would stretch, then go to the cafe to eat breakfast. 9 times out of 10, the ones who stretched and ate were ready to go for the evening session, whereas the kids who went to sleep were tired and cramping. Nourishment and stretching is the key!

Nothing beats a juggling session after a hard workout on a sunny day ☀️. The reason I love this form of cardio is soulfully for getting outdoors. I make it a high priority, because the feeling afterwards is mesmerizing. No matter what your day consists of afterwards, you feel tapped in and accomplished for the day.

Back day!!!
Hands down the best reason for training back is for throw ins. During my high school soccer games. We would force one of the worst players on our team to play, for the soul purpose of his throw ins. He was horrible with his feet, but because he trained so much, he could throw in a ball from almost half field.
This was a devastating concern for the opponents, for it was a lethal attack every single time. We’d push all our numbers up, and we probably scored 3 times off a header, and gained several corner kicks out of it in return.
Muscle is important, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
