Installed a Baldwin electronic deadbolt in the house to garage door on a Fortune-100 CEO's home. I had to order a Medeco conversion cylinder for it and key it to his key. Didn't have to program/set it up, his IT guy was going to do that after installation.

The operating key stopped working. After wiggling and jiggling with the master key I finally got it to turn. I was going to replace the core with new, but the control key was not working. I drilled the control shear and turn the lug but it would not come out. I ran a small self-tapper in to give me leverage to jerk the core out. I found that the retaining C clip on the back had work loose and it trapped the core inside the lockset.

Found the upper bearing detent and the door receiver detent loose AF making locking up a hassle. The upper concealed vertical rod must pass through both the door detent and the bearing detent in the top to properly lock. They had worked loose and was causing the cvr to bind. These Stanley automatic sliding doors are very common and this is just one of the issues I see with them. Video in comments below 👇

Arrived on a job site to install SFIC Medeco x4 core in a new addition to the building to match their existing system. The contractor had installed Corbin Russwin LFIC levers (instead of the specified SFIC). Contractor double checked his paperwork and said SFIC was ordered but apparently they received LFIC from the supplier. The average contractor/installer probably doesn't know the difference or could tell the difference, but I knew straight away when I saw it. I showed him the difference with an X4 SFIC. He said, "wow, damn it, wow". I said, "yeah, it's like throwing a hotdog down a hallway"... We both laughed. He is correcting the problem and I'll be back next week.

Found the "top header bolt" of a 3 point Adams Rite double storefront doors frozen/jammed up with dust, dirt and debris. Manager was having trouble locking the door. The Adams Rite swingbolt activates the top header bolt of the inactive door leaf. As it was jammed with debris, the swingbolt would not fully lift the header bolt and lock. Cleaned, lubed and function checked 50+ times, working great now...
